Brunei Darussalam and the Islamic Republic of Iran share many similarities that make them close and enjoy cooperation in different areas. The matter was underscored by Dr Mahmoud Rahimi Gorji, the Charge De Affairs of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Brunei Darussalam during a reception in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Iran's National Day. The function took place at Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong last night.
The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was represented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, the Minister of Transport and Info-Communications.
In his speech, Dr Mahmoud Rahimi Gorji, also highlighted that Brunei Darussalam as a peaceful and stable country in the region and as an active and important member of ASEAN, has a significant role in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two countries established diplomatic relations on the 1st of May 1990.
