The Islamic Republic of Pakistan greatly values the relations with Brunei Darussalam which encompass various fields including defence, education, health, manpower and people to people contact, trade and investment. The High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the country made the remarks at the Republic's 71st Independence Day Reception, last night.
Representing His Majesty's government was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
His Excellency (Retired) Major General Tariq Rashid Khan in his speech also mentioned that Pakistan have signed number of MOUs and agreements with Brunei and there are numbers of bilateral forums and exchange programmes. His Excellency added that the Government of Pakistan has deep desire not only to further deepen these ties but also diversify these to other areas. His Excellency reiterated that Pakistan are grateful to the Government of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for hosting Pakistanis in Brunei Darussalam in various fields including health, education and commercial fields.
