Bandar seri begawan: The issuance of the New Family Banknotes Series of Brunei Darussalam in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 100, and 500 Brunei dollars marks a significant achievement in the evolution of the country’s currency development. Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) explained that the issuance of the new series will be circulated in the first six months of 2026. At a press conference this morning, the Executive Director of Currency Management at BDCB explained that the new series will feature upgraded security features. In terms of design, the currency maintains a strong national heritage identity. The event was held at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, Bandar Seri Begawan.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Pengiran Maslina binti Pengiran Haji Mahmud said that in accordance with the Currency Order 2004, the term ‘Ringgit’ has been replaced with ‘Brunei Dollar’ across all denominations of the new currency series. BDCB also introduced a “DOMINO” feature to assist the visually impaired in using the currency.
