Bruneian students will soon visit Japan for the Japan-ASEAN Youth Sports Exchange (rugby) under Japan's Friendship Ties Programs, Jenesys 2018. 12 Bruneian students and 3 supervisors will be leaving for the programme next Tuesday until the 25th of September. Before leaving for Japan, the student's yesterday afternoon held a meet and greet with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam at the Embassy of Japan in Kampung Kiulap.
His Excellency Motohiko Kato in his speech said that JENESYS 2018 aims at having the young people go and look at the 'real Japan' and its cultural, economic or technological features and understand its substantial interest and business needs towards Brunei Darussalam. His Excellency added that they are highly encouraged to disseminate their learning and findings in Japan and promote the relationship going forward between the two countries.
The program is designed and provided by ASEAN Secretariat, ASEC and Japanese Government with great support and cooperation by Japan Rugby Football Union. The program aims at enhancing interest in rugby among Asian countries, in anticipation of the 2019 Rugby World Cup to be held in Japan. Also present was Doctor Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Paduka Haji Talib, the President of the Brunei Darussalam Rugby Union.
