Members of the Public can take a closer look at the diversity and richness of the traditional Japanese craft products at an Exhibition held at the Malay Technology Museum in Kota Batu. Organized by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and the Museums Department, the exhibition is open to the public until the end of this month.
The opening of the Exhibition was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The exhibition focuses on the traditional crafts developed within the process of daily life, by the craftspeople that have elevated their skills into the realm of art. It introduces a wide range of the traditional craft products, including ceramics, textiles, glass, metalwork, wood and bamboo work, lacquer ware, paper and stationary.
Earlier, Her Excellency Noriko Iki, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, in her speech said some of the craft objects were made by Japanese masters of Traditional craft. The Japanese Embassy is inviting the public to visit the exhibition which is open from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon except on Friday when it is closed between 11.30 in the morning and 2.30 in the afternoon.
