A Joint Venture Agreement Exchange between DST International Sendirian Berhad 'DSTI' and SACOFA Sendirian Berhad was held in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak yesterday. The ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Doktor Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak.
Representing DSTI was Awang Radin Sufri Radin Basiuni, Acting Chief Executive Officer of DST while SACOFA was represented by its managing director, Mohamed Zaid Zaini. The agreement enables the establishment of a joint venture telecommunications company, DataStream SACOFA Telecommunications Alliance Sendirian Berhad (DSTA) in Sarawak. The DSTA joint venture company will allow the DST market to broaden overseas and prepare DST with the experience and efficacy in providing Fibre to the Home services in Brunei Darussalam. Also present was Pengiran Hajah Kartini binti Pengiran Haji Tahir, Consul General of Brunei Darussalam to Sarawak.
While in Kuching, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications also attended the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak, IDECS. The two day conference is one of the platforms to discuss initiatives as well as programmes related to digital economy with various stakeholders. The conference included topics such as Digital Government: Data Centric Government, Manufacturing Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Tourism: Digital Heritage, Agriculture Smart Farming and E-Commerce as well as Service Ecosystem presented by international experts.
The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications also made a courtesy call to Yang Amat Berhormat the Chief Minister of Sarawak.
