Brunei Darussalam's Ministry of Education has highlighted recent developments in education such as the Literacy and Numeracy National Standards which are implemented in order to improve the level of English literacy and numeracy amongst Brunei school children and equip them for higher levels of schooling. Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education stated this while co-chairing the Joint Working Group Meeting between the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Education of Singapore. The 10th Joint Working Group Meeting was held at the Radisson Hotel in the capital.
The annual meeting serves as a platform to discuss educational collaborative programmes and activities which enabling the two ministries to keep abreast with recent educational developments.
The meeting was also co-chaired by Ms. Chan Lai Fung, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education of Singapore. At the meeting, Singapore's Ministry of Education also shared its recent education developments and their on-going initiatives to support holistic education. There were also reports on the Joint Working Group initiatives such as the Brunei-Singapore School Leadership Programme.
