2 thousand one hundred and 30 officers and staff of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, this morning, participated in 71-times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 71st Birthday celebration.
Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs who led the reading of Al-Fatihah.
46 groups of men participated in the ceremony. The event was held act as a special pasambah to the beloved Monarch apart from praying for His Majesty's longevity and long-reign the country.
Meanwhile, 25 groups of women were involved in the ceremony. The ceremony among efforts towards fulfilling His Majesty's wish for Brunei Darussalam to become a Zikir nation. Doa Khatam was then read by Mudim Haji Suhaili bin Haji Kalong, a Mosque Affairs Officer.
Also present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. The ceremony coincided with the reading of Doa Selamat for 48 intending pilgrims of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' staff.
