The National Service Programme was formed not only with the aim to enable the trainees to be better physically, but more importantly, to reinforce and strengthen their spirit and mind against what Islam prohibits. As part of religious strengthening effort, a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony for the National Service Programme, PKBN 9th intake trainees was held yesterday morning.
More than three hundred trainees participated in the ceremony. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Member of the Legislative Council; Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Mohamad Khairul Shahrul bin Haji Duahim, Acting Temburong District Officer.
At the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports presented certificates to the participants. Teaching Al-Quran reading is a platform towards creating syumul or holistic as well as excellent youths to uphold the concept of 'Malay Islamic Monarchy' and 'Zikir Nation'.
