The Labour Force Survey 2021, normally scheduled in October/ November every year, will be conducted simultaneously with the Third Stage of the Population and Housing Census, BPP 2021, which is currently being carried out via telephone call interview until the 31st of December 2021. The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy in its press release informed that the method is to ensure the continuity in the compilation of consistent labour force statistics from year to year, as well as reduce the response burden of households who are also involved in the Third Stage of BPP 2021 Third Stage and also taking into account that face-to-face interviews are not yet allowed to be conducted during the current situation.
LFS 2021 will only involve around 3,200 selected households throughout the country. Selected households who are also covered for the Third Stage of BPP 2021 will be asked additional questions related to the labour force characteristics only for members aged 15 years and above. Meanwhile selected households that have completed their BPP 2021 questionnaires during the Second Stage: e-Census will be contacted again by the appointed Census Officer to schedule an appointment to conduct the telephone interview relating to LFS 2021. Heads of households can verify that the Census Officer is legitimately appointed by JPES by contacting BPP 2021 hotline or the Talian Darussalam.
