In-line with the rapid development of Bandar Seri Begawan, the Royal Brunei Police Force has revived the bicycle patrols that existed previously. This was explained by the Commissioner of Police during the launch of the Brunei Muara District Police Central Station Bicycle Patrol this morning. Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam said the cycling patrols follow a set schedule and patrol specific routes that enable them to respond quickly in case of emergencies in their area. The Commissioner of Police added the main objective is to provide security to the public. It is a crime prevention method that shows the police are present among the public and have bicycles just like them.
The bicycle patrol was launched by Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy. A briefing on the routes patrolled by the unit was delivered by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mohd 'Izzuddin Hanis bin Haji Mohd Salleh, the Officer In-Charge of the Bandar Seri Begawan Central Police Station. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis, Member of the Legislative Council and the Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu as well as Awang Haji Mislee bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Brunei Muara District Officer.
