Contributions handed over for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans are hoped to not have been misused by any parties in order to look after the interests of the orphans' education and well-being. This was stressed upon by Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary for Planning, Land Use and Environment at the Ministry of Development as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans at the Launch of the 'SMS' Brunei Prihatin for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans 2019-2020. The ceremony took place at Bridex Hall Two in Jerudong.
Doctor Dayang Nor Imtihan in her speech also hoped for the contributions given to help fufil the orphans requirements in purchasing school stationery and needs as early preparation for the upcoming school year.
The launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans. The 'SMS' Brunei Prihatin for DANA 2019-2020 Project will run for 184 days started yesterday until the 12th of June 2020. DST and Progresif Cellular users can make donations through SMS Brunei Prihatin for DANA with the amount to be donated either 1, 5, 10, 15 or 20 dollars, without any charges.
The function ran concurrently with the presentation of contributions to 2,516 orphans in the Brunei Muara District registered at the DANA secretariat. The contribution in the form of coupons to purchase school necessities and stationery as well as basic necessities for non-schooling orphans. Every recipient received a contribution of 16 coupons worth 450 dollars. The coupons can be exchanged or used at 25 companies supplying school stationery and necessities identified by DANA in the four districts. Also presenting the contributions were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as the member of the DANA Board of Trustees. Also present were Members of the Legislative Council.
