The cleanliness of hands is stressed upon as hands are major parts of the body and have the potential to spread germs. Hand hygiene is a vital step that is easy and its efficacy has been proven to overcome the spread of germs from patient to patient, from patient to environment and vice versa. This was emphasised by Doctor Hajah Lailawati binti Haji Jumat, Director of Hospital Services, Ministry of Health, yesterday morning at the launch of the Hand Hygiene Awareness Day 2019 celebration for employees of the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in the Tutong District.

The function continued with the presentation of the 'Hand Hygiene Policy' to Heads of Sections at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital. Its main aim is to enhance awareness among hospital employees specifically and the public in general on the importance of hand hygiene practise as well as knowing about 'World Hand Hygiene Day' which is celebrated annually worldwide.
