The constantly developing technologies and thriving of new innovations not only has raised our standard of living, it is also transforming our lifestyle. In the current revolutionised era, technologies and human are inseparable. The chosen theme, Innovations for Society 5.0′ by the organising committee of CIPTA 2021 evolves from the previous CIPTA 2019 theme. Society 5.0 will fully incorporate the technological innovations of the fourth industrial revolution. This was stated by the Minister of Education during the Launching Ceremony of the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021, yesterday morning.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman said that this year has been a new normal for all of us and that this year’s theme could not be more fitting. Society 5.0 also known as the super-smart society, is driven by numerous converging technologies such as Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Robotics.
Earlier, Professor Doctor Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Chairperson of CIPTA 2021 Executive Committee in her welcoming speech said that the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has taught the country especially in the aspect of innovativeness and creativeness of the society in its adaptability and resilience to the current situation. The chosen theme ‘Innovations for Society 5.0′ is developed as a platform to promote innovation in the country and ASEAN countries emphasising the 17 elements of the Sustainable Development Goals, which gives impact to the society as a whole. Also present was Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education.
