The existing Brunei Darussalam Healthcare Information and Management System, Bru-HIMS has now been improved with the launch of the Bru-HIMS Enhancement Picture Archiving and Communication System, PACS. As one of the projects under the 11th National Development Plan, the PACS has two components namely PACS in Radiology for radiology imaging archive and storage, and PACS in Cardiology for cardiology imaging archive and storage including electrocardiogram, ECG.
The system was launched yesterday afternoon by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. As an imaging management system, PACS is synchronised with the Bru-HIMS system and linked to various medical imaging equipment in radiology and cardiology at hospitals as well as health care centres in the country. This can increase efficacy and quality in health care digitally by storing medical imaging in a safe and secure medical platform, and can be easily accessed at any Bur-HIMS terminal at anytime and anywhere it is needed.
