Various efforts are carried out to improve the skills and knowledge of professionals and teachers in a continuous effort to realize the implementation of the National Education System of the 21st Century and to obtain the maximum effect of holistic education for all students including students with special needs. Currently, some 2,600 students with special needs are learning in an inclusive education environment in government and private primary, secondary and higher education schools.
Awang Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Acting Head of Special Education Unit in his welcoming speech during the launching of Special Education Reference Materials Package, stated that the department is also taking steps by producing several reference materials for stakeholders.
The event was officiated by Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The publication materials are the Special Education Framework, the Primary Special Education Curriculum Book, the Special Education Handbook for parents and teachers and various brochures that describe strategies related to inclusive practices in schools.
The event coincided with the distribution of the Special Education Reference Materials Package to head of departments and stakeholders as well as certificates presentation to 34 teachers who participated in the Special Education Introduction Course.
