The Commonwealth Youth Senior Officials' Meeting in Asia Region was officiated yesterday morning at Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong. Present was Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister Of Culture, Youth And Sports.
In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of the meeting emphasised that youth, would always be the upmost agenda in every country and every regional and international organisation. Whatever agenda set on them in order to harness their dynamic energy, talent and creativity, and to be inclusive in any approach, often offer both opportunities and challenges. Hence, Pengiran Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, urged the Commonwealth Youth Senior officials to collectively continue to find innovative ways to mainstream youth priorities that would transform the challenges to opportunities.
Meanwhile, The Right Honourable Patricia Scotland QC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth in her remarks among others stated that in the field of social policy, the challenge tends to be one of implementation, which is why the youth policies have practical recommendations for actions and interventions that prioritise and tackle the specific challenges youth people face. The Right Honourable also touched on the efforts to accelerate the implementation of youth development policy priorities in by 2030 after Commonwealth Ministers of Youths agreed on certain priorities and strategies for action.
Meanwhile, Md Aidil Firdaus bin Haji Jukin, President of the Brunei Darussalam Youth Council in his remarks believed that continuous cooperation, closer collaboration and sharing of information and best practises would be able to apprehend any issues and problems encounter within the set targeted timeline.
