Launching Of Understanding Aqidah and Current Thinking Seminar 2019

In the social and nationhood context, there are many teachings of Islam pertaining to aqidah or faith and syariah are researched with the hope to assess how far it gives positive impact on the social system, the country's administration and other Muslim countries. However, the Minister of Religious Affairs said there are no or less research made on such matters for Brunei Darussalam either by masters or doctorate overseas. This was explained by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman at the launching of Understanding Aqidah and Current Thinking Seminar 2019 or SEKAPES 2019 yesterday morning at the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB.

According to Yang Berhormat, the study on Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah faith and syariah based on Mazhab Syafie should be researched on its interpretation and then highlighted in the context of how far it is applied in social life and administration. Yang Berhormat said so far, researches are not conducted in an in-depth manner, but the minister affirmed that the country's administration and vital documents are syariah compliance.

The presentation of the working paper titled 'Epistimologi Keilmuan Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah: Belajar Kepada 'Impersonal Teachers' was delivered by Professor Doctor Nasaruddin Umar, Rector of Universitas P.T.I.Q Jakarta, Indonesia.

Throughout the 2-day seminar, 56 working papers will be deliberated. This year's seminar carries the theme 'Pendidikan Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah Asas Kemurnian Amalan Ummah' or The Teachings of Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah as the Pure Basis of the Ummah's Practices. Apart from deepen one's understandings on faith among Muslims and empower Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah daily practices, the seminar is also hoped to identify issues and challenges of aqidah education. Also present was Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. SEKAPES is co-organised by the Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah Understanding Research Centre, Usuluddin Faculty and Syariah Faculty of KUPU SB.
