Law Enforcement Conducts ‘Operasi Kakas’ Targeting Immigration Violations

Bandar seri begawan: The Law Enforcement Section of the Department of Immigration and National Registration has conducted two 'Operasi Kakas' operations, along with a joint operation, focusing on various locations within the country.

According to Radio Television Brunei, during an operation at a business premise in Mukim Berakas 'B', authorities apprehended a foreign national. The individual was taken to the Law Enforcement Section for further investigation due to allegations of overstaying in the country after their immigration pass expired and working for an employer other than the original sponsor.

In a separate operation at a rented house in Mukim Liang, three foreign nationals were detained and brought in for further investigation. One of these individuals was suspected of overstaying, while the other two failed to produce any valid documentation.

A joint 'Operasi Kakas' with the Labour Department was also executed at business premises in Mukim Kianggeh. During this operation, two employers received summon letters for further investigation, and documents of three employers were verified due to breaches of employment conditions. Ten companies faced accusations of committing several offenses, including the failure to provide written service contracts, failure to pay overtime, and unlawful salary deductions.
