Kuala belait: A local man was brought before the Kuala Belait Magistrate's Court for an offence under the Excise Order 2006. HAJI MOHAMMAD JEFRI BIN MAHMUD, 53 years old, was arrested during an operation at RPN Kampung Pandan 'A', Kuala Belait involving personnel of the Royal Brunei Police Force together with several officers from the Law Enforcement Division, Kuala Belait branch, Royal Customs and Excise Department.
According to Radio Television Brunei, during the operation, the accused was found to be in possession of 38 cartons and 86 packs of cigarettes of various brands. He was sentenced to a fine of BND47,000 or 15 months imprisonment.
All contraband were seized to be handed over to the Government for disposal. Meanwhile, cash amounting to BND115 was handed over to the Government for further action.
