Efforts implemented by the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB towards elevating the status of Religious Teaching by making Al-Quran the main resource and compulsory core study for every student is timely.
The integration of traditional and the latest knowledge is appropriate and should be learnt by students at all levels in order to produce learned educators whose practices are in the mould of the earliest and most prominent scholars of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah. The matters are among the content of the resolution adopted at the conclusion of the Malay Archipelago Regional Seminar on Al-Quran and Kitab Turath Education in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary of KUPU SB, this afternoon.
The Resolution read by Dayangku Zainab binti Pengiran Haji Tuah, Deputy Director of Core Knowledge Centre, KUPU SB also underlined that the effective method of teaching and learning Al-Quran are by using talaqqi and musyafahah methods. The Resolution also stressed on the 3 aspects that need to be emphasised in elevating Al-Quran education namely the aspects of knowledge, understanding and experience. The Resolution was handed over by Doctor Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, Director of Core Knowledge Centre, KUPU SB to Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Earlier, a talk entitled 'Peranan Kitab Turath dalam Perkembangan Islam di Alam Melayu' or the Role of Kitab Turah in the Development of Islam in the Malay World was presented by Yang Berbahagia Professor Doctor Wan Jamaluddin Zakaria, from Universitas Islam Negeri, Lampung, Indonesia. The talk among other things touched on the vital and strategic role of Kitab Turath specifically in three Malay Islamic Religion dynamic processes namely the process of shaping, the process of nurturing and the process of developing. Three key papers and eleven working papers were tabled during the 2-day seminar that themed 'Pemantapan Pendidikan Al-Quran dan Kitab Turath Tunggak Kecemerlangan Islam' or 'Strengthening Al-Quran and Kitab Turath Education, The Pillar of Islam's Excellence',
