Women also joined in, in commemorating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW. They held special Maulidur Rasul gatherings in the Belait, Tutong and Temburong Districts.
Nearly eight hundred women attended the gathering at Kuala Belait Conference Hall. They were members of the Women's Bureau, Women's organisations, associations, Mukim and Village Consultative Councils and converts. In attendance was Datin Hajah Jamaiah binti Haji Abdul Manaf, wife of the Deputy Minister of Education. The event began with the reading of Al-Quran and interpretations by Dayang Hajah Norzirwatul Fadhillah binti Haji Puteh, Sayyidina Ali Secondary School Education Officer, Kuala Belait. A talk titled "The Messenger of Allah: Example of a Just Leader" was delivered by Dayang Noorizah binti Haji Abidin, Religious Education Officer at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School.
A similar gathering at Tutong Civic Centre was attended by more than three hundred people comprising of government officers and staff, members of associations, Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, mosque Muslimah and the private sector. It was attended by Datin Dayang Hajah Ainah binti Haji Ali, wife of the Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office. The reading of Al-Quran was presented by Dayang Nur Fatihah binti Abdullah Zamanul Azman, Tutong Youth Al-Quran Reading Scheme student. The special talk was delivered by Dayang Siti Noraziah binti Haji Asli, a Speaker from the Islamic Da'wah Centre.
Bangar Town Civic Centre in Temburong served as the venue for another women's assembly marking the Maulidur Rasul. In attendance was Pengiran Datin Hajah Juraidah binti Pengiran Haji Hidup, wife of the Deputy Minister of Development. Four hundred people attended the gathering made up of volunteer groups, non-governmental organisations, Village Consultative Councils, mosque Muslimah and youths. Quran reading was presented by Dayang Hajah Nor Hamimah binti Haji Hamidon, the winner of the National Al-Quran Reading Musabaqah For Adults 1994 and 1995. A special talk on the Maulidur Rasul was delivered by Dayang Norhayati binti Haji Abdul Rahman, Islamic Da'wah Centre Officer. The talk highlighted the character and morals of the Messenger of Allah as examples to be emulated in daily family life and in the multiracial community so that people could communicate and interact in peace and harmony.
