The Tutong Regatta and the "The Nyirik Brunei" are among the activities that will be held during the Brunei December Festival 2017 in the Tutong District from the 8th to the 10th of next month. At a media conference this afternoon, Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohamad Ali, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism said the festival is the first of its kind by the Brunei Tourism Board with the cooperation of several government and non-government agencies.
For the Regatta that will take place at the Tutong River on the 8th of next month, Awang Wardi explained that there will be 5 categories competed including the 500-metre and the one thousand five hundred metres boat race, and the events are co-managed by the Tourism Development Department, the Tutong District Office, and the Tutong Municipal Board. He hoped that all the support in making the Tutong Regatta and "The Nyirik Brunei" event as part of the exciting events for the Brunei December Festival can be continued and realised in the future.
Meanwhile, "The Nyirik Brunei" will be held for two days. "The Nyirik Perabang Lema" or the Night Run will take place on the 9th of December that will flag-off and end at the Tutong Town. "The Nyirik Culinary Challenge" or the Local Cuisine Cooking Competition the "Nyirik" leaf as the main ingredient will be held on the 10th of next month at the Waterfront Tutong.
