Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2018 will take place on Sunday 25th February at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan. The recreational activity is in conjunction with the 34th National Day celebration. His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to grace the activity. Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports said the event which will start at seven in the morning aimed towards developing a sporting culture and strengthening unity through total community involvement that is also intended to produce healthy citizens. The Permanent Secretary spoke at a Media Conference at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports this afternoon.
Also in attendance were Awang Haji Zafri bin Haji Mohamed, Acting Director of Youth and Sports; Awang Haji Rozaimi bin Haji Rosli, Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation representative; Inspector Mohammad Ali Dzulfikri bin Haji Mohammad Taib, Royal Brunei Police Force representative; and Awangku Laila Halip bin Pengiran Mohd Shamri, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital Paramedics representative. Members of the public who wish to participate in the event are also advised to take safety measures such as wearing helmets while cycling.
The Riadah Berbasikal involves a more than 11-kilometre long route passing several main roads in the Brunei Muara District namely Jalan Pretty, Jalan Elizabeth 2, Jalan Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien, Jalan Kianggeh, Jalan Simpang, Jalan Sekolah, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Jalan Gadong, Jalan Perdana Menteri and Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha. The activity will end at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien.
