The Ministry of Religious Affairs expressed its sadness following the fire incident that damaged the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque yesterday. Due to severe damage caused by the fire, the mosque is unsafe for use and closed temporarily. The incident has affected the congregants of Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque and residents from the surrounding area.
This matter was raised by Awang Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of Mosque Affairs, during a Media Conference, this afternoon. Awang Haji Abdul Rajid also emphasised to help meeting the need of the congregants at Kampung Mentiri National Housing and surrounding area. The Ministry of Religious Affairs through Mosque Affairs Department informed that the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Community Hall will be use for five times daily mass prayer, especially for Mass Maghrib, Isya and Friday prayer. The community hall will also be use for religious activities such as Al-Quran and Muqaddam reading classes, Sunat Tarawikh and Sunat Hari Raya prayers. It can accommodate 500 congregants and a number of tents have been erected at the area to house extra congregants up to more than a thousand congregants. Mosque Officials at the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque will be the prayer leader at the community hall.
The Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes will discontinue tomorrow and resume on Friday, the 14th of April 2017 at the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Community Hall. Such effort is hope to ease the residents and congregants from the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme and surrounding areas. Residents and congregants at the respected area are also advice to use nearby mosque while repair works are carried out.
