Media Conference on Latest COVID-19 Situation in Brunei Darussalam

 

17 new COVID-19 cases were reported, taking the total cases to 364. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a press conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al-‘Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

5 of the new cases, Case 348, Case 351 until Case 354 are close contacts to Case 346. Case 348 is a 31-year-old man who has no signs of infection. Case 351 is an 8-year-old girl who experienced mild infection on the 6th of August. Case 352 is another girl, aged 6, who does not have any symptoms. Case 353 is a man, aged 38, who began experiencing mild infection on the 7th of August. And Case 354 is an 8-year-old girl who began experiencing mild infection on the 7th of August. This cluster is now known as the Al-Falah cluster.

 

Meanwhile, Case 349, a 34-year-old man, and Case 350, a man, aged 43, arrived in the country from Manila on the 4th of August 2021 boarding the Royal Brunei flight BI684. Both cases do not have any symptoms of infection.

 

7 of the cases reported, Case 355 to Case 361 are close contacts to Case 345. Case 355 is a 50-year-old man who is a colleague of Case 345. He began showing signs of mild infection on the 6th of August. Case 356 is man, aged 45, also a colleague of Case 345, and does not have any signs of infection. Case 357 is a woman, aged 55, who is the sister of Case 345, and she does not have any symptoms. Case 358 is a 46-year-old woman who is the wife of Case 345, and does not have any signs of infection. Case 359 is a 72-year-old man and is a colleague of Case 345. This case began experiencing mild symptoms on the 6th of August. Case 360 is a man, aged 64, who is also a colleague of Case 345 and does not have any signs of infection. Case 361 is also a man, aged 56, a colleague of Case 345. The case experienced mild symptoms on the 6th of August. This cluster is now known as the TOTAL LNG cluster.

 

Case 362 is a 13-year-old boy who began experiencing mild symptoms on the 5th of August. The case has no history of travelling abroad. Case 363 is a male teen, aged 16, who began experiencing mild symptoms on the 2nd of August, and has no history of travelling abroad. Case 364 is a 43-year-old woman who began showing mild symptoms of infection on the 3rd of August and does not have a history of travelling abroad. Contact tracing for all these new cases is still on-going. All identified close contacts will be instructed to undergo mandatory quarantine and the SARS-CoV-2 RTPCR testing.
