Towards the Ministry of Education's efforts to enhance the quality of education at all levels namely: primary, secondary, post-secondary, technical and vocational education as well as higher education, a number of strategies have been provided to produce a role model who is knowledgeable as well as skilled and can contribute to nation development. This is in line with the Ministry's vision which is "Pendidikan Berkualiti, Negara Dinamik" or Quality Education, Dynamic Nation and its mission, To Provide Holistic Education to Achieve Full Potential for All. The Ministry of Education also plays a critical role in gaining the Brunei Maju or Progressive Brunei objective. The Minister of Education explained the matter at the Meeting session between the Ministry of Education and members of the Legislative Council, this morning at Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School in Kampong Sungai Akar.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman also stressed that it is the Ministry of Education's dream to produce excellent human capital who possess spiritual characteristics and the Bruneian mould. Therefore assimilation and strengthening of religious and Malay Islamic Monarchy, MIB education amongst students at all levels will continue to be given priority by the ministry, the updating of MIB lessons at schools and education institutions so that it becomes a Bruneian culture, whereby no matter how highly educated a person is, he will not forget who he is. This is given serious attention so that Brunei Darussalam will remain with its identity as a MIB country.
At the meeting, the Minister of Education also shared a number of developments that have been implemented and achieved by the ministry to-date, among them the drafting of an Education Strategy at the Primary and Secondary levels and towards enhancing student's literacy and numeracy. The meeting with the Ministry of Education was attended by 18 members of the legislative Council led by Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman. Among those present were Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education and Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education. The meeting session is an annual event of the Legislative Council, Prime Minister's Office with the Ministries and stakeholder agencies.
