The daily life that has drastically changed due to COVID-19 and it is not only affecting the physical health and infected millions of individuals around the world but also has brought various challenges. The challenges have brought impacts on the quality of mental health. Yang Berhormat Dayang Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii, Member of the Legislative Council shared the matter during the Launching Ceremony of Mental Health Forum for Women in conjunction with the Mental Health Day 2020 : ‘Women : An Investment for Better Mental Health’.
According to Yang Berhormat, the impacts can be seen by the increasing number of anxiety, depression and social isolation individuals reported around the world. The country’s ability to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic has created a positive values among the community. Albeit the challenges, the community are able to faced it with patience, tolerance and by helping each other out. Such positive attitudes are among the factors that contributed to high endurance.
The ceremony ran concurrently with a forum titled ‘Women – An Investment for better Mental Health. The forum was discussed by four panel members namely Dayang Hani Haryana binti Haji Maidin, Psychology Expert, Clinical Psychology Services at the Ministry of Health; Dayang Sharifah Khadijah binti Hussein Alkaff, Motivational Speaker and Author from State Mufti’s Department; Dayang Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Muhd Jaafar, Chief Executive Officer of Progressif Sendirian Berhad and Dayang Hajah Ajeeratul binti Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdullah. The forum held at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex was attended by 150 participants. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, and Yang Berhormat Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Haji Ash’ari, Members of the Legislative Council.
