Messages of Condolences

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send messages of condolences to His Majesty King Charles III, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and The Right Honourable Elizabeth Truss MP, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In the message, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and members of the Royal Family as well as the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam joins the Government and people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in mourning the loss of a devoted and respected leader who will always be remembered for her humanity and warmth in her lifelong dedication to the British people, the people of the Commonwealth and the public service.

For over seven decades, Her Majesty’s personal courage and strong leadership as Head of the Commonwealth has been a great source of admiration, inspiration and pride that has encouraged unity among the Commonwealth nations.

Their Majesties fondly recalls Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh’s visits to Brunei Darussalam in 1972 and 1998. Their Majesties truly appreciate Her Majesty’s personal contributions to strengthening these important ties.

His Majesty remembers fondly of the last meeting with Her Majesty during The Queen’s Commonwealth Dinner at Buckingham Palace in 2018 and was touched by her grace and kindness. These meetings reflect the special and long-standing relationship between the United Kingdom and Brunei Darussalam.

In ending the message, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and members of the Royal Family as well as the Government and people of Brunei Darussalam send their deepest condolences to His Majesty King Charles III and members of the Royal Family during this time of great loss.
