His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday officiated the 1st Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Innovation Conference and Expo and the Brunei China-ASEAN Expo CAEXPO Exhibition 2017. The exhibition and expo is organised by the Energy and Industry Department at the Prime Minister's Office (EIDPMO) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Guangxi Autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. The event is being held at the Bridex Hall in Jerudong.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness were welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, the Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Roselan bin Haji Mohamad Daud, the Acting Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, the Permanent Secretary (Industry) at the Prime Minister's Office.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and doa selamat led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal. His Royal Highness then officiated the 1st Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Innovation Conference and Expo and the Brunei China-ASEAN, CAEXPO Expo Exhibition 2017. The expo is first of its kind in the form of the Made in Brunei Marketing Fair. It acts as a platform for local companies to showcase their products and services.
His Royal Highness also launched the official website of 'www.business.gov.bn', which is a portal that provides the Brunei economic community an easy access to information on procedures, guidelines and services related to business facilitation. The initiative implemented by Darussalam Enterprise, DARe allows high quality local products under the 'Made in Brunei' brand to be marketed through the www.unexpectedtreasures.com.bn webiste. Among them are the Brunei woven fabrics and crystals. The 'Made in Brunei' brand foods and drinks are also showcased at the expo. Several products that are showcased were already marketed at local shopping centres.
His Royal Highness then took a closer look at sales and exhibition booths. About 200 local MSMEs including 31 Kampong Consultative Councils from the four districts are participating in the expo. It involves various sectors including info-communication technology (ICT), fashion and apparels, green energy and services.
Several local products are also sold and exhibited in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Innovation Expo. Among them are processed foods, pharmaceuticals, home necessities product; cosmetic; Beauty and Health care; Souvenirs and '1 Village 1 Product'. The expo with a theme "Pesta Pasaran Made in Brunei" provides an opportunity for the local Micro, Small and Medium entrepreneurs to show their best in marketing and strategy as well as to promote their products so that users and consumers will support the local products.
His Royal Highness received Pasambah from the exhibitors. The "Made in Brunei" Marketing Fair also provides opportunities to participating investors and distributors to meet with the potential entrepreneurs to establish partnerships and to help the local entrepreneurs to develop and enhance their export potential abroad. Several companies from Sabah, Sarawak, Vietnam and the Republic of Indonesia are also among the expo participants.
