In the current era of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, digital technology has great potential to drive the economic progress of a country. The Ministry of Education is actively supporting the government's efforts to realise the goal of digital transformation for Brunei Darussalam through holistic education programmes in aligning the country's direction towards digital economy and the implementation of Digital Economy Masterplan 2025. Speaking during the Convocation Ceremony of Micronet International College, the Minister of Education called on all higher learning institutions to play a role in providing a conducive digital ecosystem to catalyse a generation of digitally skilled human resources and prepare for the future.
According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, such desire can only be achieved as a whole nation, that is, through the continuous involvement of all stakeholders. Yang Berhormat also stressed the need for higher learning institutions, especially private higher education to move fast in planning and exploring opportunities to offer various academic programmes that will be able to meet the needs of highly skilled, adaptive and innovative manpower as the aspirations of the Economic Blueprint for Brunei Darussalam and the planning of the Manpower Planning and Employment Council, MPEC.
320 students receive their certificates during the ceremony at The Empire Brunei, Jerudong. Also in attendance were Doctor Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education and Awang Sylvester Yong, Managing Director of Micronet International College.
