Minister of Home Affairs Explained the Control of Foreigner’s Entry into the Country

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs among other matters explained about the control of foreigner’s entry into the country.  

Yang Berhormat Pehin said towards stopping the risk of importing and curbing the spread of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam as well as guided by the advice of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Home Affairs informs that as of today, 29 Rejab 1441 corresponding to the 24th of March 2020, all foreign nationals are NO longer allowed entry into Brunei Darussalam either through Control Posts via land, sea and air routes until a later date to be announced. This ban includes foreign nationals transiting in the country.

In this regard, the application and facilities categories involved in the announcement are as follows:

– The provision of Visas on Arrival issued by control posts is temporarily stopped;

– Applications for visit, student as well as dependent visas are postponed including applications received by the Department of Immigration and National registration prior to this;

– Approval letters for visit, student and dependent visas that have been issued by the Department of Immigration and National Registration are postponed;

– Approval letters for visit, student and dependent visas that will and have been issued by the Embassies and High Commissions of Brunei Darussalam overseas are postponed;

– Foreign nationals who have been issued visit, student and dependent visas and who are still in their country of origin are to postpone their travel to Brunei Darussalam and stay in their country;

– Foreign nationals who have been issued re-entry visas and are still in their country of origin are to postpone their travel to Brunei Darussalam and continue stay in their country;

At the same time, special consideration will only be given by the Department of Immigration and National registration, depending on matters that are of interest to the country, by applying to the Department of Immigration and National registration by downloading the special form on the Department of Immigration and National registration website at www dot immigration dot gov dot bn and submit to the department through e-mail, info@immigration.gov.bn.
