Retirees and personnel of the Ministry of Defence who achieved excellence in 2018 were feted yesterday afternoon at the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation for Civil servant retirees, certificates and tokens of appreciation for Civil Service Excellent Employees Award for 2018 and Special Appreciation for Civil Service Employees. The function which ran concurrently with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration took place at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. Yang Berhormat Pehin in his speech underscored that the function revolves around successes and victories. He added, that there is no success or victory without intention, faith, effort and solidarity. Yang Berhormat said that Ministry of Defence employees who have just or will be entering the world of retirement, they are also among those who have achieved success or will obtain victory. They are successful or victorious in the world of employment in their choice of careers or employment until the date of retirement. Yang Berhormat believes that such successes will be a landmark of life and also the careers undertaken will have provided much teachings, knowledge and beneficial experience that will act as an oral tradition and lifelong memories for the retirees and employees and will be made as examples by future generations.
76 retired civil servants received certificates and tokens of appreciation for the contributions and loyal deeds throughout their service with the Ministry of Employment. The function continued with the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation for Civil Service Excellent Employees Award for 2018 to four of the ministry's staff. One employee received the Special Appreciation for Civil Service Employees.
To further glorify the month of Syawal, the function ran concurrently with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration themed 'Evolusi Raya Kitani' or the evolution of our Hari Raya, showcasing Hari Raya celebrations in Brunei Darussalam from the 60's to 2035 in the future. Also present were Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma'awiah, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
