In driving the work movement and the main objective to be achieved, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and departments under it have selected six main strategic fields namely Effective Religious Education; Strong Propagation; Sovereignty of Syariah Laws; Social Security Assurance; Halal Food as well as Quality and Excellent Services. These are among the matters touched by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs during a Meeting between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and members of the Legislative Council, yesterday morning. The event took place at Dewan Multaqa, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
According to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, several measures have been taken by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and departments under it, in enhancing the quality of respective services in line with the ministry's main strategic focuses. Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz said that from the aspect of effective religious education, the ministry plays a role and hopes to produce balanced individuals, who are successful in the world and hereafter, human models who are knowledgeable, pious, skilled and nobly behaved. The ministry wishes to produce competitive, intellectual religious students at the international level and will continue efforts to provide infrastructures and a conducive learning environment. From the propagation and eminence aspect, the ministry will continue to explore certain methods and approaches to ensure the public will become closer to the mosques especially during mass prayers.
Touching on the construction of Mosques, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs said, there are two allocations for the construction of new mosques in the country. He added that under the 11th National Development Plan, plans for the construction of new mosques in Mengkubau, Meragang, Rimba, Telisai and Lugu while the second source is from the Brunei Darussalam Mosque Construction Fund. From the Social Security Assurance sector, the zakat or tithes will continue to play its role in providing aid to the poor and destitute as well as new converts. While the halal food sector will continue to contribute to a more efficient halal certification activity and contribute to the national economic development.
The discussion session was chaired by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs. At the meeting, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Hamid @ Haji Sabli bin Haji Arshad, member of the Legislative Council as the representative of the delegation in his speech among other matters expressed appreciation for the efforts and developments that have been carried out by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and departments under it. The meeting acts as an annual forum to share the development of activities and the ministry's policy. Also present were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Religion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
