Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday became the focus of thousands of the multi-racial citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara District who turned out to welcome His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s arrival for the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony with people in the district in conjunction with His Majesty’s 69th Birthday celebration.
Brunei-Muara District was the final district for the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony which took place at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien. The atmosphere along the main road towards Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien was cheerful with a long line of students waving miniature national flags.
Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Home Affairs, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Royal Birthday Celebration National Executive Committee, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohamad Yussof, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer.
Accompanying His Majesty to the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Cheers of “Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik” from Penghulu Mukims, Village Chiefs, members of the Celebrations Executive Administrative Committee and representatives of organisations in the Brunei-Muara District echoed in the heart of the capital.
The Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer, Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, expressed his gratitude and undivided loyalty on behalf of all the citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara district towards His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Awang Misle also spoke of the determination to enhance the efforts, management, administration and productivity of the leaders at the grassroots level, as well as to steadfastly uphold His Majesty’s leadership in gearing up towards the nation’s further development and progress based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) concept.
Special performances themed, “Raja Gemilang Sanjungan Negara” or “Glorious King, the Nation’s Pride” highlighted the joyful atmosphere. The performances involved 569 participants comprising individuals who have carved their names on the international arena, students from 28 schools, national athletes, government and non-government organisations as well as the private sector.
This special performance depicted the concept of readiness and seriousness of the citizens and residents in the Brunei-Muara District in attaining continuous development, progress and success. This attractive performance is a combined presentation by the Musical Bands of the Military and Police Cadets, Fire and Rescue, the Red Crescent, as well as Girl Guides and Scouts Teams. Each uniformed team carried a slogan highlighting the pure values of the Bruneian people.
“A Charismatic Monarch, the Nation’s Leader” was illustrated through Pencak Silat movements presented by a combined team of 69 participants from six schools led by the national athletes. This performance symbolised the preparedness, strength, determination and courage of the citizens who are proactive towards the development and prosperity of the nation.
The performance that portrayed a Progressive King as the Symbol of the Nation’s Success, depicted Bruneian citizens of the past as fishermen or seafarers and farmers, and children playing traditional games.
The performance featured the civilisation and development of Bruneians in together progressing while at the same time further strengthening their self-esteem and national identity as Bruneians. As the core of the Bruneian race, the citizens are advancing together in glorifying His Majesty as the nation’s Sovereign Ruler, the Sultan and Protector.
At the highlight of the performances, the participants from various levels of the community in the Brunei-Muara District together displayed a joyous atmosphere in a combined colourful performance themed, “Mahkota Berdaulat Kekal Menjadi Tampuk Negara Dan Candik Kepimpinan Bangsa,” (The Sovereign Crown – Forever Leads The Nation).
In one of the special performances, a young Bruneian artist who has successfully made his mark at the international arena, Awang Fairuz Zabady Bin Zaini, drew a portrait particularly symbolising the citizens’ absolute loyalty to the monarch.
The portrait drawing and a special song entitled “Bersatu Hati” presented by a Bruneian recording artiste were among the special performances this year, highlighted the unity of the citizens and their loyalty to the people’s Monarch who always shows concern towards the well-being of his subjects.
More cheers of ‘Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik’ brought the field performance to a close led by two national athletes who made the country proud by bringing home gold medals they won in the 8th Asian Junior Wushu Championship in China.
The whole ceremony brought out the meaning of the Brunei-Muara District residents’ gratitude, affection and love towards His Majesty, their beloved and exalted sovereign king who has steered the nation towards the pinnacle of excellence and glory, with justice and wisdom.
