No words can describe how they feel, except expressions of gratitude to Allah the Almighty for the opportunity of greeting and meeting their beloved and caring Monarch. This was the feeling of citizens and residents in Tutong during the Get Together and Junung Ziarah ceremony between His Majesty and the people in the district yesterday morning.
The meeting with the beloved Monarch was something people in the Tutong District would not want to miss because it was the greatest moment to convey their most heartfelt thanks for the progress and development achieved by the district. The Get-together was attended by more than thirteen thousand people comprising students, Civil Service officers and staffs, mukim and kampung residents, youth associations, entrepreneurs and bank staff, the Tiong Hwa or Chinese community, Children With Special Abilities, the Neighbourhood Watch and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
Accompanying His Majesty during the ceremony were,
- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince,
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;
- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;
- And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah,
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's just and wise rule has brought peace, prosperity, development, progress and security to Tutong District. The people of Tutong continue to enjoy the fruits of His Majesty's reign especially in areas such as religion, education, economy, housing, health, security and communications.
As the second largest district, Tutong benefits through the realisation of innovative planning that enhances national development. The country's development agenda succeeds mostly because the true Bruneian identity sparkles as mutual respect, tolerance and unity spur deep loyalty, solidarity and patriotism among the multi-ethnic population towards greater heights of progress and prosperity.
The Get-together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony with the rakyat or citizens and residents is unique to Brunei Darussalam. Foreign visitors and those who learn about the event from afar are always full of praise for His Majesty's benevolence and the loyalty of the people which are the pillars of the country's peace and prosperity.
During today's historic ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to grace the ceremony for the naming of the Ulu Tutong Dam. His Majesty was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, the Minister of Development. The Monarch then viewed a model of the dam and was briefed on the project by Dayang Lim Sui Kau Alice, the Director of Water Service at the Public Works Department.
His Majesty then consented to deliver the commissioning titah and signed the Ulu Tutong Dam name plaque.
Costing 85.5 million dollars, the Ulu Tutong Golden Jubilee Dam is a National Development Project whose purpose is to increase water resources in Brunei Muara and Tutong Districts.
His Majesty and members of the Royal Family ended the Tutong District visit with a Luncheon at the Main Hall of the Tutong District Civic Centre Compolex. During the luncheon, His Majesty consented to cut the Royal Birthday Cake.
Doa Selamat was read by Pengiran Haji Sahrul Azman bin Pengiran Haji Metussin, Tutong District Lower Shari'ah Court Judge.
Before departing from the ceremony, His Majesty consented to receive the Junjung Ziarah from the members of His Majesty's Birthday Celebration Executive Committee in Tutong District. The very well organised and smooth running ceremony reflected the consensus and unity of the people which are based on love, loyalty and respect for their beloved Monarch and country.
