Towards enhancing awareness among Muslims in the country on the importance of the correct way of performing prayers and at the same time improve on it, theoretically and practically, the 'Mudahnya Sembahyang' programme was held yesterday morning. The programme organised by the Islamic Dakwah Centre, the Islamic Studies Department and the Islamic Eminence Development Section, Ministry of Religious Affairs took place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien.
Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at The Prime Minister's Office; and Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Haji Hamzah bin Sulaiman, Minister of Education.
The event commenced with a mass warming up session followed by the walkathon which marks the official opening of the 'Mudahnya Sembahyang' program in conjunction with the national level Isra' Mi'raj celebration for 1440 Hijrah. The program which carries the theme 'Sembahyang Membentuk Umat Bertaqwa' or Prayer Shapes A Pious Ummah also provided over 30 exhibition booths comprising government departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and private companies.
The programme's content include prayer demonstration according to Mazhab As-Syafie, an Al Quran Clinic as well as various activities such as quizzes, Islamic Calligraphy competition and colouring contest. The program aimed to assimilate the teachings of Islam, and share information to the public through direct propagation.
