National Level Isra’ Mi’raj Celebration

Brunei Darussalam commemorates the Isra' and Mi'raj of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu' Alaihi Wassalam with the National Level Isra' Mi'raj Celebration 1443 Hijrah held yesterday morning. The ceremony was highlighted with a Special tazkirah or talk which touched on the Muslim Ummah to perform prayers solely for the sake of Allah SWT towards creating a society who always remember Allah in further making Brunei Darussalam a Zikir Nation and achieving the status of 'Baldatun Thaiyibatun Wa Rabbun Ghafur'. The ceremony was jointly organised by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF; the Ministry of Education; and the Islamic Studies Department under the Ministry of Religious Affairs which took place at the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The ceremony began with a reading of Al-Quran verses by Awang Aliudin bin Haji Sarbini, Engineering Sergeant Major at the Maintenance Department, Support Services Headquarters, Royal Brunei Navy, Ministry of Defence.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister Of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the 1443 Hijrah Islamic Events Celebration Executive Committee in his speech said that Muslims should 'bertawakal' or rely wholeheartedly on Allah as we are aware and repentant that the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world is also a creature of Allah and is easily spread and at the same time can be controlled and its effects reduced. Yang Berhormat added that the theme for this year's celebration further increases understanding on the blessings of prayer, specifically the five times daily prayer, which includes enhancing concentration when performing the religious act.

A Special Talk titled 'Sembahyang Ku Kerana Allah', delivered by Captain Mohammad Ayza Azrine bin Ayahani, Operations Officer, Religious Department, Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The talk stressed on the importance of being fully committed (body and soul) in prayer and perform it properly aside from performing prayer with the fi'li and qauli pillars physically.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Di Muliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Emran bin Haji Kunchang. Also present were Cabinet Ministers and Members of the Legislative Council.
