His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah, emphasises that in deciding hukum or rules, laws and decisions one should first refer to Al-Quran. The theme of this year's National Al-Quran Musabaqah For Adults is very appropriate for guiding the country towards making Al-Quran the source of guidance for the leaders. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made the titah at the closing ceremony and prizes presentation of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018. It was held yesterday evening at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas. In the titah His Majesty also stresses the need for the succeeding younger generation to be equipped with the knowledge of Al-Quran so they will be able to achieve better things than their elders. The Monarch then highlights the importance of understanding the contents of Al-Quran, adding it is most appropriate for students, especially those from Islamic institutions of higher learning to possess such knowledge and proficiency.
Upon arrival , His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Dipertua Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Major Islamic Events Celebration Executive Committee and Chairman of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018 Executive Committee; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti, and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom Bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, The Deputy Minister Of Religious Affairs as well as other committee members.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah.
His Majesty, in the titah highlights every year Allah has given us enlightenment and guidance to continue organising the Quran Reading Musabaqah which is the right way to elevate Al-Quran, to be learnt and to be assimilated in the best possible way.
His Majesty presented prizes to the winners and participants of the competition. The Champion Qari of this year's National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults was Awang Haji Muhd Fikri Bin Haji Awang Metussin with a score of 90.17 percent. Meanwhile, champion qariah was Dayang Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran with a score of 87.74 percent. The champions will represent the country to the International Tilawah Al-Quran competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 7th to 12th of May this year. This year's musabaqah carries the theme 'Al-Quran Sumber Kepimpinan Adil' or Al-Quran the Source of Just Leadership.
