National Youth Day Celebration

The climax of this year’s National Youth Day Celebration year was the presentation of the National Youth Day Awards namely the Excellent Youth Awards, Youth Services Award, Young Youth Leader Award and Excellent Project Award for Youth. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the awards.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Minister of Education.

Also gracing the event were His Majesty’s son and brother, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; and His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah.

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

In his welcoming address, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports highlighted on the ministry’s involvement in the implementation of the 5-year Youth Work Plan at the ASEAN level.

The reading of the ‘Ikrar Belia’ or Youth Pledge involved 50 youths from various fields including a differently-abled youth, led by Awang Haji Abdul Mateen Bolkini bin Haji Ahmad, recipient of the 2020 National Youth Day, Youth Services Awards.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the National Youth Awards 2022. The recipient of the Excellent Youth Award, Doctor Awang Mohd Hilmy Baihaqi bin Haji Awang Yussof, Lecturer, Head of Strategic Planning Unit, Head of Professional Relations Unit, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, received a trophy, ‘Kain Jong Sarat Bunga Bintang Gemilang’, Certificate of Appreciation and 3 thousand dollars cash money.

The Youth Service Award was awarded to Pengiran Haji Ahmad Fadillah Akhbar bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin, Information Officer. The recipient received a trophy, ‘Kain Betabur Bunga Permata Bangsa’, Certificate of Appreciation and 3 thousand dollars cash money.

Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, Village Head of Kampung Sengkarai was awarded the Young Youth Leader Award. He received a trophy, ‘Kain Jong Sarat Bunga Kebahagiaan,’ Certificate of Appreciation and 3 thousand dollars cash.

The Excellent Project Award for Youth went to the BloodKad Project. The project received a trophy, Certificate of Appreciation and 3 thousand 5 hundred dollars cash.

This year’s celebration still maintains the theme ‘Belia Siaga Masa Depan’ or ‘Future Ready Youth’ which is inline with His Majesty’s noble aspiration to see the country’s youth always ready to face future challenges.
