To protect the environment and encouraged the public to use recycle bag, the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, JASTRe, Ministry of Development extended the No Plastic Bag Everyday Initiative and Eco Ramadhan Campaign to Ramadhan stalls. The campaign was also supported by Department of Youth and Sports; Takaful Brunei Darussalam; Baiduri Bank; Unified National Network, UNN; Progresif Sdn Bhd and Butra HeidelbergCement Sdn Bhd. The launching of the campaign took place yesterday afternoon at Ramadhan Stall, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
It was officiated by Dayang Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Director of JASTRe. One thousand 200 recycle bags were distributed to the Ramadhan Stalls visitors. The expansion of the No Plastic Bag Everyday Initiative to convenient stores, restaurants and market stalls by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation was announced during the Earth Day celebration on Thursday, 22nd April last year which will be implemented in stages.
The Eco Ramadhan Bersama JASTRe campaign aims to raise awareness on the use of reusable items particularly when buying takeaway foods. The public can joined the activities provided through social media, Instagram @jastre.bn and @zerowastebrunei throughout Ramadhan.
