Seventy-one officers and staff of the Ministry of Communications and the departments under it received the Pingat Kerja Lama, PKL, or Long-service Medals. The Medal Presentation was in conjunction with the 68th and 70th Birthday Anniversaries of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The medals were presented at the Service Appreciation Ceremony for Officers and Staff of the Ministry of Communications and departments under it. The ceremony took place at the Ministry's Dewan Amar Pahlawan. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications, presented the medals. The PKL recipients comprised officers and staff who had contributed excellent services to the government for 20 years. The recipients have also maintained clean service records, good behaviour and praiseworthy personality as well as very good work performance.
Also at this ceremony, 45 retired staff of the Ministry of Communications and departments under it received certificates of appreciation and souvenirs. The ceremony was also highlighted with a motivational talk which, among other things, touched on time-management after retirement, health care and parental guidance. The talk was delivered by Awang Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor, Acting Head of Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education. Also attending the ceremony was Haji Azhar bin Haji Ahmad, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.
