Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad, BGC, marked a significant milestone today by being the first blue water shipping company in Brunei to be issued a 'Document of Compliance' by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, MPABD. The official handover of the Document to BGC was held yesterday morning at the BGC Office in Jerudong.
On hand to witness the official hand over was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications who is also Chairman of the MPABD Board. The Document of Compliance was handed over by Awang Haji Muhammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar, MPABD Chief Executive to Captain Mohammad Shahbirin bin Haji Ibrahim, BGC's Designated Person Ashore. Following the successful audits by Bureau Veritas on behalf of MPABD, BGC is now officially recognised as a fully-fledged ship manager, with BGC's A-Class vessel, S.S Abadi being the first vessel to be managed and operated exclusively under BGC's safety management system. BGC was established in 1998 and since then has aspired to develop its services and expand beyond the delivery of Liquefied Natural Gas.
