The mastery of Al-quran reading among school pupils is vital in producing a muslim who is knowledgeable and pious based on the teachings of the quran. The One Week One Juzu' or Chapter Programme organised by the Religious School Section, Islamic Studies Department is one of the efforts made to enhance Al-Quran reading among religious school students in order to produce an Al-Quran Generation.
412 participants of the One Week One Juzuk Programme comprising pre-school until Primary 5 students for Brunei 3 Area, were celebrated yesterday in a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony held at Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong. The reading of surah Al-Fatihah was led by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Such a programme was also held at Pusat Insani in Seria. 382 participants comprising Pre-school until Primary 5 students from 18 religious schools in the Belait District were celebrated at the function. Present was Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs. The function ran concurrently with a presentation of certificates and doa selamat. The One Week One Juzuk Programme is hoped to be able to generate a young generation that loves and assimilates the teachings of Al-Quran.
