Online Teaching and Learning

Following the third term school session which will begin on the 18th of August 2021, the Minister of Education explained that teaching and learning under the control of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs will be implemented via online until a later date. This is to ensure the health and safety of students and school staff as well as to avoid any possible infection.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education also noted the situation, in which there are students with limited access to the internet and devices such as computers, laptops and tablets. In this matter, teaching and learning will be conducted through social media platforms or any appropriate telecommunication applications such as notification of the provision of lesson materials via mobile phones to teach students to learn flexibly according to the given time period. Apart from that, the Ministry of Education also broadcasts educational TV programmes as previously implemented. The broadcast, which is delivered through Radio Television Brunei TV channels, serves as an additional support to teaching and learning. The programmes will be broadcast every school day and the broadcast schedule will be shared through the official social media platform of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, the schools will continue to activate their Business Continuity Plan to maintain the well-being of teachers and school staff by directing all teachers and school staff to work from their respective homes, namely Work From Home as outlined by The Ministry of Health and the Prime Minister’s Office starting Wednesday, 18th of August 2021 until a date to be announced later. The implementation of the Work From Home method is coordinated with the Flexible Working Arrangement method for all Public Service staff as stated in the Circular Letter of the Prime Minister’s Office number: 06/2020.
