Opening Ceremony of 5th Brunei Darussalam-Singapore Joint Training Annual Exchange Programme

Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore are mutually concern on security and implemented efforts in combating transnational crime, specifically in relation to cybercrime, terrorism and drug enforcement. This was voiced by the Permanent Secretary for Security and Enforcement at the Prime Minister's Office in his welcoming speech at the opening ceremony of the 5th Brunei Darussalam-Singapore Joint Training Annual Exchange Programme. The event took place yesterday morning at the Prime Minister's Office.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Haji Muhamad Sazali bin Pengiran Haji Yakob also emphasised the importance of people-to-people ties in addressing these challenges which has escalated globally and regionally in numbers and grown in complexity.

Meanwhile, Mr. T. Raja Kumar, Deputy Secretary for International and Training at the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore in his return address reiterated the close and special relationship between officers across various enforcement agencies in both countries, and their continuous joint efforts to address the current and emerging challenges on transnational crime. 20 senior officers from Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore are participating in the 12-day programme. The programme provides a platform for participants to exchange views and expertise on matters of mutual importance related to safety and security. Also present were Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force; Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Pengiran Haji Raffizanna bin Pengiran Haji Razali, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; and Mr. Raymond Chow, Deputy High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to the country. The first phase of the programme is held in the country while the second phase will commence in the Republic of Singapore.
