In order to become an effective senior military officer, one has to be prepared to be a Commander, diplomat, political adviser, an educator, mentor and many others. To meet those expectations, a senior military officer will be introduced to what can be described as a suitcase full of competencies which can be a challenge just to lift, let alone master. Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces was speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the 10th Command and Staff Course. It was held yesterday morning at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Defence Academy.
37 officers are attending the course including 15 international military officers, among them from Australia, People's Republic of Bangladesh, the People's Republic of China, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia and New Zealand. The 40 weeks course will be delivered in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam as its main academic provider which aims to expand the professional and academic knowledge towards contemporary strategic environment and its implication on their works being the defence and security specialists. By the end of the course, successful course participants will be awarded with UBD's Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies with an opportunity to pursue their Masters in similar field.
