Opening Ceremony of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games Highlights Brunei Royals’ Participation

Bangkok: The son and daughter of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, joined the Brunei Darussalam contingent in the parade of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games Opening Ceremony held at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony took place on the night of December 9th and witnessed the attendance of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, who is the SEA Games Federation Honorary Life President and the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council. Also participating in the parade was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, further emphasizing the royal presence at the event.

The Brunei National Contingent is participating in nine sports events at the Games, which include Polo, Sepak Takraw, Wushu, Silat, and swimming. The 33rd Southeast Asian Games sees the participation of nearly twelve thousand five hundred athletes, marking a significant gathering of competitors from the region.
