Local teachers on contract are urged to take the opportunity given when participating in any capacity building programs provided and carried out either at the school, cluster and Ministry of Education levels. Teachers under contract are advised to always enhance their teaching quality by using the best, latest and effective pedagogical approaches by making educational transformations in the classroom. The Acting Director General of Education made the call at the opening ceremony of the Local teachers on contract Induction program for the Local Graduates Recruitment as English and Mathematics Teachers project. Dayang Hajah Anis Faudzulani binti Haji Dzulkiflee, also urged local teachers on contract to avoid the "one size fits all" approach and use more of a mastery approach.
Dayang Hajah Anis Faudzulani said that the implementation of the Literacy and Numeracy Coaching Program, LNCP is one of the Ministry of Education's initiatives that is hoped to improve the teachers' teaching and learning quality specifically in the fields of Literacy and Numeracy. Continuous guidance and professional development programs carried out by an International Coach, is hoped to enhance the quality of local teachers and at the same time produce local experts in Literacy and Numeracy. Apart from that the Ministry of Education is also actively implementing professional development programs through the programs offered by the Brunei Darussalam teachers Academy, BDTA aimed at enhancing teachers' knowledge and skills towards enriching the students with 21st century knowledge and skills.
107 local graduates selected for the Local Teachers on Contract position for English and Mathematics subjects took part in the 5 day induction program. It is aimed as an early measure in preparing the teachers with basic teaching and learning knowledge for English Language and Mathematics before they start teaching in classrooms.
