Opening of Informative Society Programme

The Informative Society Program is one of the Information Department's platforms to disseminate official information on government policies so that all members of society are able to understand, support and assimilate effectively through the presentation of briefings, dialogue sessions and visits. Yesterday morning, the opening of the program was held for Kampung Birau in the Tutong District involving 30 participants. The event was held at the village's community centre.

Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, member of the Legislative Council who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Telisai. In his welcoming speech, Awang Hasanul Hidayat bin Haji Abu Bakar, Head of the Tutong District Information Branch as the programme's Chairman explained the programme's purpose which is to enhance knowledge and disseminate the latest developments on the government's efforts towards improving the standard of living aside from boosting the people's confidence and inspire the society. This is all carried out towards upholding Wawasan Brunei 2035 which is towards educated, highly skilled and successful citizens, possessing a high standard of living and achieving a dynamic and sustainable economy.

The two day programme includes briefings from the Information Department as well as a visit to an Aquaculture sector operating company, Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad at the Kampong Serambangun Industrial Site in Tutong. During the visit the participants took a closer look at the manufacturing process of the company's products. Through the programme, participants are hoped to gain a multitude of benefits as well as information aside from opening up their minds to entrepreneurship at the cottage industry level.
